Engaging Children in Worship:
Participation in Mass

These Liturgical Participation resources provide tools for engaging children more fully in Sunday Mass.

First, “Engaging Children in the Mass” and “Strategies for Children’s Participation in Mass” provide a variety of practical ways that parishes can promote the participation of children in Mass. Use these two summaries as the basis of study, reflection, and planning.

Second, the Children’s Mass Guides provide a variety of short, practical worship aids designed for children. They are included in Word formats so that you can use the guides as developed or easily edit and format your own version. They can be given to children at Mass and/or made available digitally on a website or via email. One or more of the guides can be part of a “Mass Kit” for children.

Third, there are also two versions of an “Assembly Pew Card” that communicates the importance of children at Sunday Mass and how the assembly can support and encourage children and parents. Use these examples to create your own parish “Assembly Pew Card.”

Churches and schools have permission to download, print, and adapt the materials for their use. Permission is given to use these materials in print and digital formats (websites, newsletters, social media) for educational purposes only.
